Sharon Yvonne Stone was born on March 10 the year 1958 in Meadville, Pennsylvania, to accountant Dorothy Lawson and tool and die manufacturer and former factory worker Joseph William Stone II. Stone has three brothers: Michael, Kelly, and Patrick. Stone is a gifted student in school as a young child, began in second grade at five. Stone graduated from high school with a certificate in Saegertown in Saegertown in Pennsylvania in 1975. A winner of Miss Crawford County, she was also a part of the Miss Pennsylvania Beauty Pageant. Stone relocated to New Jersey in 1977 with her aunt to pursue a career as models. Within a month, she was signed with Ford Modeling Agency. After a year spent living in Milan and Paris the model moved to Europe. Stone was unhappy with the modeling market in Europe she decided to focus on acting instead. She appeared at 20 in Woody Allen's "Stardust Memories," which received mixed receptions.
